Breaking the Silence Together
Supporting Postpartum Dads in Indiana

Paternal postpartum depression (PPND) is a condition that affects men after the birth of their child, similar to postpartum depression experienced by mothers. Men may exhibit traditional symptoms, such as fatigue and changes in sleep or appetite, but may display fewer overt emotional expressions, like crying. Other common symptoms include anger, irritability, low motivation, physical symptoms like headaches or stomach issues, poor concentration, suicidal thoughts, and withdrawal from relationships. Several factors contribute to depression in fathers, including hormonal changes, feeling disconnected from the baby and partner, sleep deprivation, and the impact of a partner's postpartum depression. If a man experiences persistent or debilitating symptoms of postpartum depression, he should seek treatment from a mental health professional. Postpartum Support International (PSI) offers support and resources for fathers, including support groups, peer mentors, and specialized support coordinators.
About Us

As members enter this thoughtfully designed group, we're excited to introduce its creators, Emily and Lyndon Fry. As parents to two lovely children, they've personally confronted the challenges of postpartum depression. The downfall of resources for men has been a striking discovery, particularly when witnessing loved ones face difficulties. By establishing this group, the Frys aim to expand resources, build community, and empower men to overcome adversity and flourish during postpartum. Emily's current role in school is to achieve her PhD, whose studies in psychology are driven by a commitment to providing emotional support and tailored solutions. Also as a trained birth doula through DONA International, Emily is a part of the Doula Network of Fort Wayne which also provides support to the community for birth and postpartum support. Welcome to the NE Indiana PP men's group, where collective support will drive meaningful change.
